Excavation & Earthwork
Excavation is the core of the trade: opening the ground where something needs to go, moving the material that comes out of it, and putting back what belongs there properly compacted.
What the work involves
- Foundation and footing excavation
- Basement and crawlspace digs
- Bulk earthwork, cut and fill
- Backfill and compaction around new structures
- Import and export of material
- Rock and hard-digging conditions assessed before we commit to a scope
Who this is for
- New residential construction
- Additions and remodels that need new footings
- Shops, garages and accessory buildings

Excavation & Earthwork questions
What happens to the dirt that comes off the site?
Some of it usually gets reused on site for backfill or grading, which is cheaper than hauling it away. Anything that has to leave gets hauled off. We will tell you which way your job is likely to go before we start.
What if you hit rock?
It happens in this country. If the ground turns out harder than what we scoped, we stop and talk to you about the options and what they cost before we carry on. You will not find it on the invoice first.
