The price doubling once you dig
Hard digging is assessed before we commit to a scope. If the ground turns out harder than what we scoped, we stop and talk to you about the options before we carry on.
Working close to the house
A compact excavator with a tight tail works beside walls and fences without swinging into them. The photo above is exactly that kind of job.
Hitting a line
Locates are called before the ground opens. Private lines like irrigation, septic or power to a shop aren’t marked by 811, so we ask you what you know about them first.
A mess left behind
Spoils get stockpiled where they won’t bother you, and what has to leave gets hauled off. The site gets walked with you at the end.
The machine
Sized for residential access
This work is done with our Kubota U55-5 compact excavator: 6 ft 5 in wide on rubber tracks, 11 ft 11 in dig depth and 19 ft 7 in of reach. It fits most driveways and side yards a bigger machine can’t, and it’s easier on the ground getting there.

What happens to the dirt that comes off the site?
Some of it usually gets reused on site for backfill or grading, which is cheaper than hauling it away. Anything that has to leave gets hauled off. We’ll tell you which way your job is likely to go before we start.
What if you hit rock?
It happens in this country. If the ground turns out harder than what we scoped, we stop and talk to you about the options and what they cost before we carry on. You hear about it before it shows up on an invoice.
How deep can you dig?
Our Kubota U55-5 reaches 11 ft 11 in down at its deepest. That covers footings, basements, utility runs and most drainage work. Deeper or wider digs get talked through on the site visit.
