The bottom gets checked before the concrete crew is booked in. If it won’t carry, you hear about it then, with a price for fixing it.
The hole in the wrong place
We dig to the stakes and elevations on the plan and check grade with a laser level as we go.
Backfill pushing a wall
Backfill against a new wall goes in lifts, with drain rock where the design calls for it, and gets compacted as it goes.
The machine
Sized for residential access
This work is done with our Kubota U55-5 compact excavator: 6 ft 5 in wide on rubber tracks, 11 ft 11 in dig depth and 19 ft 7 in of reach. It fits most driveways and side yards a bigger machine can’t, and it’s easier on the ground getting there.

How deep does a footing have to go around here?
Frost depth is 24 inches in Chelan, Douglas and Okanogan counties and 18 inches in Grant County. What actually sets the depth is the design and what we find at that elevation.
What if the ground at the bottom is no good?
Then we tell you before the concrete crew is standing there. Usually it means over-excavating and bringing in structural fill, and you get a price for that before we do it.
Do you work under a general contractor?
Yes. We’re set up to sub to a general contractor or work directly for an owner builder.
