How We Get In and What We Protect
The biggest worry with any excavation job is a machine crossing your yard. Here’s how we plan the way in, what gets protected, and what the place looks like when we leave.
Access
Planned before the machine moves
The way in
Before anything is booked we look at the approach: gate width, overhead lines, the pitch of the driveway, turning room at the top, and where a truck and trailer can unload safely. A photo of your driveway entrance usually answers this in seconds.
The route across your property
We agree where the machine travels, where it turns and where material gets stockpiled. That route avoids what you want kept: lawn, irrigation runs, a drain field, a fence line, trees.
What gets protected
Anything on the route that could be damaged gets talked through before the machine moves. If ground protection is needed across lawn or soft ground, it goes in the written scope so there’s no argument later.
During the job
Gates get shut behind us, especially with stock or dogs. Open trenches and excavations get treated as the hazard they are, and the site is left secure at the end of each day.
When we leave
Ruts we made get repaired, material doesn’t get left where it will bother you or the neighbors, and we walk the site with you before calling it done.
The machine
Small enough to get in, big enough to do the work
Our Kubota U55-5 is 6 ft 5 in wide on rubber tracks with a tight tail, so it works beside walls and fences without swinging into them. Rubber tracks are far easier on pavement and turf than steel.

Access questions
Will you drive over my septic drain field?
No. A drain field is one of the first things we ask about, and the route in goes around it. If you aren’t sure where it is, we find out before the machine moves.
How wide does my gate need to be?
About 7 feet of clear opening for our Kubota U55-5, which is 6 ft 5 in wide over the tracks. Tighter than that, send a photo.
What happens to the ruts?
Ruts we make get repaired before we leave. Soft or wet ground gets planned around, or protected, and that’s written into the scope.
